JARMAN Impey is equal favourite to win the 2014 NAB AFL Rising Star Award, according to an AFL Coaches survey.

Impey received 13% of the coaches’ votes, as did Melbourne’s Christian Salem and Collingwood’s Tom Langdon, for their most likely winner.

The small defender has played 13 of the Power’s 14 games in 2014 so far, taking some big scalps along the way.

No scalp drew higher praise than his job on the dangerous Freo forward Hayden Ballantyne, who he kept goalless in Round 8.

It was that performance which earned Impey a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination, making him eligible for the yearly award.

Impey has played predominantly down back, but has also spent time up forward, kicking three goals in 2014, including a Goal of the Year nomination in Round 12 against the Saints.

The 2014 NAB AFL Rising Star Award is announced the week after the home and away season is completed.
