Port Adelaide is thrilled to welcome tenacious midfielder Justine Mules, who has committed to the club for the upcoming NAB AFLW season.

The experienced 27-year-old played in three winning premierships for the Adelaide Crows and has notched 49 AFLW matches since her debut in 2017.

In 2020, she was named Adelaide’s defensive player of the year and placed third overall in the club’s best and fairest count.

Boasting youthful energy and seasoned maturity in equal measure, Mules will contribute both on and off the field.

“I’m absolutely ecstatic, just so ready to be on board and I’m really looking forward to supporting the younger players coming through over the next few months,” Mules said.

“I came for a tour last week through the clubrooms, and to see the memorabilia and history on display here is just so exciting. For us girls to now be a part of that is just the next step toward chasing greatness for this club.”

The Morphettville Park Football Club product joins fellow former Crows Erin Phillips and Ange Foley in committing to Port Adelaide, further bolstering the experience and leadership capabilities of the inaugural Port women’s side.

“I’ve looked up to Erin and Ange while they were in the leadership group at the Crows,” Mules added.

“It’s just an absolute honour to be able continue playing with Erin, and Ange Foley is an absolute weapon and I love her leadership style.”

Port Adelaide head coach Lauren Arnell is looking forward to what Mules will bring to the women’s program.

“Justine is that Port Adelaide-moulded player, tough and tenacious at the contest, super competitive and has a bit of speed about her,” Arnell said.

“I think what we are most excited about, outside of her on-field talent is her leadership ability, which is becoming a theme for us in the players that have committed to us so far.”

Outside of football, Mules enjoys a career as a Project Manager for the Adelaide City Council – a juggling act that speaks to her driven and determined personality.

“We’re so excited to have Justine, who will be a wonderful asset to the team and a role model for our younger, less-experienced players.
