On the Power's performance...

"They [St Kilda] had got a hold [on us] at the start and we were about 20 down, and by three-quarter time we were a goal down.

"I thought we were back in a position of running hard and playing the style of footy we wanted to play, so hopefully we would be able to finish it in the last quarter."

On defenders playing further up ground…

"I think that’s the way we have to play."

"It’s more the ability to win the contest ball that’s either in the air or on the ground, and St Kilda were able to do that today.

"Of course, if they do that, they’re going to get you out the back."

On Charlie Dixon's debut...

"He’s 60 minutes into his season as far as game time goes today, so he was always going to be a little under done."

"I think by the end of the game, 3.3 and the amount of score we got off his contest is exactly why we brought him here."

On skills and effort...

"I say to the players every week, you cannot get perfection – mastery – but you’ve got to chase it."

"This game of football in the comp that we play in, there’s going to be mistakes all the time.

"I can accept mistakes as long as the intensity is right.

"One of their comments was that they didn’t think that the options were all wrong, their execution let them down.

"I like it when they can acknowledge that.

"A lot of people say ‘don’t do it, don’t take it [the option],’ I think it’s brave. The option was right – you’ve just got to hit it."
