THE Port Adelaide Football Club advises defender Jackson Trengove will undergo surgery today on a fractured metatarsal sustained in Saturday night’s five-point win against the West Coast Eagles.

Although the club was initially hopeful that Trengove had only sustained a minor injury, subsequent scans revealed a fracture requiring surgery.

The club will await the outcome of that surgery before determining the duration of his rehabilitation.

It is anticipated that he will be unable to play for an extended period of time.

High performance manager Darren Burgess said:

“After an incident in the game we thought it was only a minor foot issue, but given that he was unable to continue playing we had it investigated and found a metatarsal fracture.”

“He’s having surgery today and we’ll have more clarity on length of time he’ll be out after that.”

The club will make no further statement until a full medical report following surgery.
