ADELAIDE coach Brenton Sanderson has revealed the team he names to play Port Adelaide may not be the side that runs onto AAMI Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking at the coaches' joint-press conference for Balfours Showdown XXXV, Sanderson said a number of players were still under an injury cloud.

However he insisted there was no gamesmanship involved in him leaving his options open.

"I don't want to play any games with the opposition or the media," said Sanderson.

"But the team that comes out tonight may not be the team that takes the field on Sunday.

"Only because we've still got a few sore guys, and it's just hard this far out to name a (team of) 22."

Sanderson said a challenging season of injuries had forced him into the position.

Young Crow Shaun McKernan is at least one player who will be given until Sunday to prove his fitness for the Crows.

"(McKernan) is one that we've probably got to give until the last minute," conceded Sanderson.

"He had a nasty little ankle sprain over in Perth, an eight-day break helps (the recovery) but he'll be one we'll give up until Sunday to make a call on."

Both Patrick Dangerfield and Ben Rutten are set to be selected in Adelaide's final 22, although Rutten will undergo a fitness test at the Crows' final training session at AAMI Stadium tomorrow morning.
