BRENT RENOUF has been upgraded from Port Adelaide's rookie list to replace the injured Jarrad Redden.

Redden is currently on the Power's long-term injury list and continues to progress through his rehabilitation from knee surgery.

The Power is able to promote a rookie to replace a player on its long-term injury list and 2008 premiership ruckman Renouf is a logical elevation.

Port Adelaide's general manager - football Peter Rohde told portadelaidefc.com.au Renouf was now a chance to play while Redden continued his recovery.

"Obviously having Reddo out with a long-term injury meant we always had the option to upgrade a rookie, and Brent was the player we suspected would get the nod," Rohde said.

"Brent has had a few of his own fitness issues, but as we didn't need to upgrade him for him to play during the NAB Challenge, we were able to monitor how he went in pre-season games.

"Now we're able to consider him for selection."

Renouf joined Port Adelaide for the 2012 season and has played 15 games in two seasons with the club.

He was added to the Power's rookie list ahead of the 2014 season.
