A big hit from Darren Glass has seen Chad Wingard sent to hospital as a precaution following Port Adelaide's hard-fought 14-point win over West Coast on Saturday night.

But scans have already cleared the small forward of injury from the incident in what will be a significant boost for morale at Alberton going into the blockbuster ANZAC Round clash against Geelong on Sunday week.

Plenty of knocks were endured by players on both sides during the game, with the Eagles using their substation to replace an injured Xavier Ellis in the opening quarter.

Wingard and Jackson Trengove were the Power's most notable departures from the field in the opening term, although both returned shortly after to see out the game.

The Power's high performance manager Darren Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au Wingard would still be assessed as per the club's normal procedures in the lead up to Round 5.

"We don't take any risks with injury and it was a big hit, but a really courageous effort from Chad to get up and take the free kick," Burgess said.

"He was sent to hospital after the game, but the scans have already come back clear, so we'll have him for assessment this week.

"Other than that he was fine - only a minor tweak to his ankle in the first quarter and then hit his foot in a completely separate incident late in that last quarter but came up fine from those as well.

"He's a tough guy and we expect him to bounce back."

Trengove returned to play out the match with a solid defensive performance.

He too will be assessed ahead of the match against the Cats.

“Jackson got a blow to the rib, which is why he came into the rooms in the first quarter, but he came back out after about 10 minutes and finished the rest of the game,” Burgess said.

Second-gamer Sam Gray rolled his ankle during the game, but his substitution at three-quarter time was a tactical rather than injury-related decision.
