Player of the week

Ben Newton
Newts again put his name up for AFL selection with another strong performance. He had a great mix of inside and outside possession and is hitting the scoreboard each week.

Player reviews

Andrew Moore
Andrew was a little quiet in the first half and was a little untidy with his disposal but he did manage to get going post half time. We're still looking for Moorey to hunt the ball around stoppages and set up some inside-50 play.

Kane Mitchell
Kane simply continues to perform at this level week in, week out. Although tagged on the weekend, his outside possession and run was terrific. I like the fact he had the opposition run with him because it complements his form and helps him improve his one-on-one contests.

Karl Amon
Karl is ticking along nicely, we would like a little more from him around the ground with a few extra possessions, skill efficiency and gut running, but I feel this will come thru maturity and continued improvement from playing at this level.

Mitch Harvey
Mitch made one great tackle inside 50 this week, which resulted in a goal. This is the work rate we expect over the next few month and for him to provide a contest in the air and on the ground. He rucked a little this week as well and looked solid in there.

Steven Summerton
This man continues to impress with disposal and leadership - very effective when in possession and was also outstanding in his defensive pursuit of the opposition.

Robbie Young
Robbie is enjoying his time at League level, his defensive efforts are awesome along with his ability to race onto the loose ball. He is learning plenty from this opportunity.

Angus Bruggemann
Solid performance again, but matchups were not quite right for him this week. He showed he can go forward and mark the ball as well as assist Renouf in the ruck.

Ben Haren
Benny played at both ends of the ground again - he loves to play a team role for us. He's very composed when in possession and is improving his game from week-to-week.

Tom Logan

Tom was solid again - he's our most consistent performer each week. He won plenty of the ball but still needs to hurt the opposition with a little more care when in possession. Tom Is AFL ready and just needs to be patient.

Darcy Byrne-Jones
A very good performance from Darcy. He generates some real speed from defence and has really learnt to be aggressive when tackling the opposition. Just needs to consistently beat the small opposition forwards week to week.

Tom Clurey

Cluzza halved a lot of his contests inside defensive 50 by being really aggressive. We would like to see him be a bit more confident in the air and get to a position where he can mark the ball. Hi ball use was very brave and he looked to get involved in our offence a couple of times as well.

Zac Hawkins
A very impressive League debut by Zac, he looked really composed when in possession and finished with 24 disposals. He went back and stood under a high ball early in the game which was very courageous and looks to have the footy smarts to play more at this level.

Brent Renouf

Brent started a little slow this week and didn't give our midfield the first look at it, but after half time he really dominated the stoppages and competed really hard against Webb and Nelson.

Sam Colquhoun
A disappointing end to a great performance by Sam. He was carried off on a stretcher and that's not the way you would like to end a game. Up until then he'd been one of our best players.

Campbell Heath

Helped out down back this week and looked more confident in the air, his disposal was very clean and looked to rebound from half back. He's a very flexible player for us and has shown he can push forward and have an influence.

Cam Hitchcock

Cam suffered a knock to his shin early in the game and this really hampered his ability to run and take the game on. He managed two goals from smart forward play.

Paul Stewart
Stewie continues to stake a claim for AFL selection with a really balanced game with 20 possessions and three tackles. He just needs to tidy up his decision-making when looking to find a Maggies teammate going inside forward 50.

John Butcher
John presented better this week up at the ball, but poor disposal by teammates hurt him a little. He was much better after half time and looked more confident when marking the ball inside 50. Finished with five goals.

Anthony Biemans
Biemer played a little more midfield this week against Tuck and managed to find the ball and use it well at times. He also went back and supported the defence in the second half. We love the way he plays his role and plays for the team.

Cam O’Shea
Very honest performance over four quarters, defended really hard with his run and attack on the contest. One effort in particular in the air on the Jack Cahill Wing exemplified his commitment and courage. What really stood out was that he rebounded strongly and got involved in our offence.
