PORT Adelaide isn't listening to suggestions from the outside that it’s stumbling in its run towards finals football.

The Power have slipped to third on the ladder, equal on points with fifth-placed Geelong.

A loss to Richmond on Sunday would have the club in danger of dropping out of the top four.

Port assistant coach Josh Carr dismissed any idea the side was tiring, pointing to its final quarter against the Bombers as proof the group was still full of energy.

Despite the Power losing by two points last weekend, they booted 3.4 in the last term to Essendon's 1.2.

Carr said the club had every confidence in high performance manager Darren Burgess to ensure its players were at peak fitness at the right time of the year.

"It's a strong group – that's players and coaches," Carr said.

"We know where our players are at, physically Darren's got the boys going well and their GPS numbers and all that sort of stuff haven't gone down so we know they've still got the running in their legs.

"We showed that [last] weekend, our last quarter was still very strong.

"We know that we've got plenty left in us."

Carr said the Power were wary of the Tigers, who are striving for their third-straight win.

With stars on every line, including skipper Trent Cotchin, Carr said Port had to play tough, defensive football if it was to avoid losing a third game in a row.

"Their best football is very good and that was the reason they had such a good year last year," he said.

"They've got a lot of talent through their list and their ability to hold onto the ball and move the ball by foot is pretty good.

"The last three out of the four weeks hasn't been great as far as win/losses go, we've just got to get back to playing our best football – hard at it, tackle well and the result will come our way."
