PORT ADELAIDE will go into Saturday's second preliminary final against Hawthorn with an unchanged line-up.

It's the third consecutive week that Port Adelaide has named the same team, and the fourth from five games that this side has been used.

Such stability in the Power's line-up will be crucial ahead of the knockout final at the MCG, a ground Port Adelaide has played three games at in the last two years.

"It's good to have stability at this time of year in the team, and we've only made one change to the team in the last five weeks, so it puts us into a really good position going into this game," said Hinkley.

"We're in good form, we're confident in our ability and if we play at our best we can take it up to any side."

The task of playing Hawthorn at the 'G is one Hinkley is confident of executing, but he and his Power line-up are well aware of the challenge that will meet them on Saturday.

"It was a big task last week and it's a big task this week going up against a side going for its third grand final in as many years.

"We've had a pretty good build-up, to be honest, and the experience of playing finals at the 'G last year, and two more this year is useful.

"Now we get the chance to go back to the best ground outside of Adelaide Oval in the MCG to play in a preliminary final."

As Port Adelaide has beaten a mid-season slump to reach the preliminary final, Hawthorn too has overcome the temporary loss of senior coach Alastair Clarkson to illness and early injuries to be in with a chance in the second-to-last game of the AFL calendar.

Hinkley says the Hawks will be tough beating.

"Hawthorn a great credit to themselves as far as the way they've been able to handle a number of setbacks during the year.

"They've got great depth at their footy club and though they're on average two years older than us and have more game experience, we're really confident that we'll have a real good crack at them.

"We look forward to playing them again understanding they rightly hold the mantle of 'Rank One' side in the competition."

With a stable line-up for Port Adelaide in the AFL, the club's SANFL Grand Final team is set to be similarly stable.

The Magpies play Norwood in the 2014 premiership decider at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday afternoon.

John Butcher has been named in the forward pocket after recovering from a back injury.

The final Magpies team will be confirmed on Sunday.
