TWO Port Adelaide players have been confirmed as the club’s first winners of the AFL’s Mark and Goal of the Year awards.

Despite many nominations since its debut AFL season in 1997, Port Adelaide has never won either of the popular awards.

However, Chad Wingard’s soaring grab over St Kilda’s Sean Dempster in Round 12 at the Adelaide Oval, and Matt White’s incredible 100-metre sprint across Etihad Stadium to goal in Round 17 have been overwhelmingly voted by AFL fans as the respective best mark and goal of the 2014 season.

It’s a fantastic result for the pair, having built themselves into two of the Power’s most exciting players this year.

The dual plaudits are the first time a club has won both awards since Jonathan Brown (mark) and Jason Akermanis (goal) did the double for Brisbane in 2002.
