VIRUS Action Sport Performance has joined Port Adelaide as its Official Compression Partner for the 2015 AFL Premiership Season.

VIRUS Action Sport Performance is an exciting high performance apparel range that can regulate an athlete’s temperature and increase their rate of recovery.

This gives Port Adelaide an advantage over other teams using traditional compression methods and technologies.

Port Adelaide is the first AFL club to partner with VIRUS and head of high performance Darren Burgess is looking forward to seeing the players benefit from wearing four-way stretch fabric in each VIRUS compression product, allowing the Power playing group a full range of movement on the track.

“We’re very excited about this partnership with VIRUS, and we believe we’ll benefit from being the only club using their products in the AFL,” Burgess says.

“The VIRUS range offers us heaps of flexibility in terms of tailoring products to our individual player needs, which is something really important in the modern game.

“Being able to use temperature-controlled technology is also something that will benefit the players throughout the year at training.”

VIRUS national teams manager Matt James says VIRUS Australia is also excited about partnering with Port Adelaide.

Having umpired at the highest level of the game, including as a field umpire in Port Adelaide’s first AFL Grand Final in 2004, James knows the intensity of the elite game.

“VIRUS Australia is excited to have partnered with Port Adelaide – one of the leading AFL teams – and we see this as a great opportunity to fit out the entire playing list,” James says.

“Each player will be able to perform at their peak in arguably the world’s most physically demanding sport.

“The benefits gained from wearing VIRUS have been proved in a number of other sports and we look forward to seeing the on-field improvement for the Power and assisting them reach new levels in the AFL.”
