SAM Colquhoun will return to AFL football this Friday night after spending 637 days out of the Power’s line-up.

Named to replace the injured Karl Amon, Colquhoun’s return to the Power is a story of persistence typical of all players who have overcome serious year-long injury to play again at the national level.

After rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against the Bloods in Round 4 of the SANFL last year, Colquhoun was forced into a 12-month rehab, returning a month early for the Magpies and pushing his claims for a senior berth with a number of other up-and-comers.

SELECTION: One change, one SANFL debutant

Now, on the back of his strong pre-season and consistent weeks in the state league, Colquhoun has been given an opportunity to prove his worth against the team he last played against, way back in the 2013 semi final – Geelong.

“He’s been outstanding, Sammy’s a natural worker and will leave nothing to chance,” Power defensive coach Matthew Nicks told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“He’s played a number of different roles this year, through the midfield, a little forward, and of course down back, so he’s added a few good strings to his bow since coming back from injury.

“So Sammy has earned his spot, deserves to come in, I think the group is really happy to have him back in, they know that he brings great run and good decision making.”

Port Adelaide plays Geelong at the Adelaide Oval at 7:20pm on Friday night.
