portadelaidefc.com.au looks at the three Bombers who could have a significant impact on Saturday night...

SHAUN McKERNAN

The last time we met it was Ryder against Lobbe. This time the two will combine against Essendon, with Shaun McKernan to maintain duties for the Bombers. Former Power and GWS ruck Jono Giles was kept on the sidelines for this game, so it looks like McKernan will need to shoulder the significant ruck burden for the red-and-black, with some support from young forward Joe Daniher. Dyson Heppell is Ranked No. 2 in the AFL for 'third-man-up' contest wins, and the Power will be forced to closely monitor his influence around the stoppages.

BOMBERS: Hird makes one change

DYSON HEPPELL

Playing his 100th game and without usual captain Jobe Watson in the midfield, acting Dons skipper Heppell is the ace in Essendon's deck. He's silky on the outside and has incredible endurance, he's a tough match-up for any side. Kane Cornes kept him to 17 touches and just 257 metres gained last tie but, of course, Wiggy retired weeks ago. Heppell ranks second at Essendon behind Brendon Goddard for average disposals.

CALE HOOKER

Hooker is Essendon's top marking player - seven per game - and is a potent force at both ends of the field. Capable of peeling off an opponent to intercept opposition kicks is among the best in the league. Has supported Daniher up forward in recent weeks.
