PADDY Ryder takes on his old club Essendon for the first time since joining the Power at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night. We take a look at how the Power's other cross-club recruits fared when they first confronted their old sides in a Port guernsey.

Jack Hombsch v GWS - Round 12, 2013

When Homma played GWS for the first time, he had a bit of a day out. The Power travelled to Spotless Stadium and brushed the Giants aside with a thuping win. Hombsch had 26 touches and seven inside 50s in just his second game for Port Adelaide.

Jay Schulz v Richmond - Round 22, 2010

Schulz faced the Tigers in the final game of the 2010 season under interim coach Matthew Primus, and what a day it was. After leading by as much as 53 points at half time, the Power was reeled in by the Tigers to hold on to a slim 10-point victory at the final siren. Schulz had a quiet day out against his old team though - scoring just three points and having nine touches.

Angus Monfries v Essendon -  Round 15 2013

Weirdly, Port Adelaide’s recent record against Essendon has been poor, and before Ryder its most recent convert was Angus Monfries. While the Power went down to the Bombers at Etihad, Gussy nonetheless enjoyed a day out with 18 disposals and four goals against his old team.

Matt White v Richmond - Round 17 , 2014

Whitey’s first game against the Tigers also came at Etihad and was a loss as well.  Kicing two goals and having fourteen goals against his own side was good, but his incredible running goal down the wing – the 2014 Goal of the Year – was even better.

Port Adelaide 16.10 (106) def by Richmond 19.12 (126)

Jared Polec v Brisbane Lions - Round 4, 2014

Polec’s arrival as a future star of Port Adelaide continued to grow in the Power’s whopping victory over Brisbane at the Adelaide Oval at the beginning of 2014. While Polec contributed brilliantly as an outside midfielder and had 25 touches and a goal, Port went on to win by its second greatest margin in the AFL.

Port Adelaide 24.15 (159) def Brisbane Lions 7.4 (46)
