Portadelaidefc.com.au takes a look at who’s in the mix for selection for both sides as Port Adelaide face the Gold Coast at the Suns’ home turf this Saturday night.

Port Adelaide

With no injuries to the side which overcame Hawthorn by 22 points, Ken Hinkley will face no forced changes at the selection table this week.

After being dropped to the SANFL side in Round 21, Matthew Lobbe came out with a vengeance and again proved himself as a powerhouse in the ruck this week in the Magpies’ clash with South Adelaide. Boasting 34 hitouts, five clearances and 12 disposals in a tightly fought battle, he’s proving his strength and consistency in the mid.

Andrew Moore and Sam Colquhoun are also with an outside chance to be recalled to the senior side, after earning praise from SANFL senior coach Garry Hocking for tough, solid on-field efforts.

Gold Coast

With Adam Saad officially ruled out for the season due to a groin injury, the Suns will face at least one change to the side which overcame Essendon by just two points.

Both Charlie Dixon and Sam Day have been flagged as possible returns for the Suns, pending fitness tests. Dixon’s ankle injury is coming good, while scans on Day’s neck following a nasty collision have come back clear.

ENEMY: Dixon, Day expected to play

Onballer Andrew Boston responded to being dropped from the AFL side with an impressive game in the reserves, collecting 31 possessions, eight inside 50s and six clearances. We could see him back at top level to face the Power.

First year key forward Peter Wright could step up to the plate if Dixon is ruled unfit. With three senior games under his belt and a slew of solid performances in the NEAFL, he’s likely the Suns’ next best pick.

goldcoastfc.com.au also tipped NEAFL veteran Andrew Raines as a possible inclusion after strong performances in the reserves side.
