THERE'S no better reason to be at the Adelaide Oval come lunchtime on Sunday than to cheer Port Adelaide on against Central District.

The Magpies will have John Butcher and Karl Amon back in the team, as well as contracted SANFL player Anthony Biemans fresh from a four-goal reserves game.

With fine, sunny weather and a top of 29 degrees forecast, it will be a perfect day to bring the family or head over with your mates to cheer Port on - old style.

The club's AFL players will also be there to make sure their mates get the job done.

A victory over Central District is essential to keep Port Adelaide's September alive - lose and they're out, win and they get the chance to play for a grand final berth next week.

SANFL coach Garry Hocking called for the Port faithful to turn out and get their players over the line.

“We have our work cut out, and we’re really excited about the challenge and we hope all our fans can get out there too, and get behind us,” Hocking said.

“It proved last year that having all our fans out here over the finals series helped us get over the line. We’re hoping and asking all the Port fans to get out and support us.

“It makes a huge difference when you run out and there’s a great crowd out there behind you."

So where will the true believers be?

The Port Adelaide Cheer Squad will be on song - literally - behind the Riverbank End goals from the first bounce.

SELECTION: Butch, Amon come into side

They'll be making sure the players have plenty of support with flags and floggers, songs and scarves.

And plenty of passion!

Port Adelaide's membership manager Ben Demertzis says Sunday's game is a great way to enjoy old fashioned local footy in black and white.

"We've got some of the best supporters in the country, so it would be great to have them come out and bring that true Port Adelaide passion against the Bulldogs," Demertzis said.

"Our passion at SANFL finals was legendary even before we entered the AFL, and with the great weather we've got, it's perfect for all our people to get out and barrack for the boys.
