THE wait is over – Charlie Dixon has officially joined Port Adelaide in a three-way deal involving Gold Coast and Richmond.

In one of the most highly-anticipated trades of the 2015 period, the deal will see Port Adelaide send Pick 10 and a future 2016 second round pick to the Suns in exchange for the tall forward and Pick 49.

Dixon says he’s really pleased to be heading to Port Adelaide after nominating the club as his destination of choice some weeks ago.

“I’m really looking forward to joining Port Adelaide as I’ve been really impressed with the club and in particular with the structures that Ken Hinkley has put in place,” Dixon said.

“I’ve met a few of the players and I’m really excited about putting my head down working hard to do what I can to help improve myself and the Port Adelaide Football Club.

“I’d also like to thank the Gold Coast Suns for their support, I’ve made some great friends and really appreciate the opportunity the club has given me.”

The 25-year-old played 65 games and kicked 94 goals for Gold Coast in his seven years at the club.

Port Adelaide Football Club general manager, football, Chris Davies said he was pleased Charlie Dixon would be coming to Alberton.

“It’s great to bring a player of Charlie’s ability to the club and we look forward to helping him developing his football with our group,” Davies said.

“We believe Charlie can really complement our team as help us get stronger in 2016.”

Dixon is the second player to be secured by Port Adelaide this trade period after the club locked in midfielder Jimmy Toumpas in a complex deal between Melbourne, Collingwood, Adelaide and Port Adelaide on Monday.
