STEVEN SUMMERTON has been confirmed as one of the great modern Magpies after winning his third A.R. McLean Medal.

Announced at the Port Adelaide’s annual best and fairest count, the Magpies skipper was applauded as he received his second consecutive club champion award from coach Garry Hocking.

Earlier in the evening he was announced as the winner of the Max Porter Memorial Trophy winner as the League team’s most consistent player.

His consistency is difficult to argue, having polled in every round and receiving maximum votes on nine occasions throughout the season.

While the award was not bestowed following the Magpies’ straight-sets exit from the finals, Summerton was also the highest polling player during the team’s major round campaign.
