PORT ADELAIDE supporters will have their first opportunity to see their favourite players in action at Friday's Alberton Oval trial match.

Port Adelaide’s general manager of football Chris Davies said a longer pre-season spent at home has enabled the players to invest more time in mental and physical preparation for the season ahead.

“It’s the first opportunity this year for our supporters to see our guys go ahead in a game situation and from our perspective we are really looking forward to it,” Davies said.

A lengthy preseason this year meant the team chose not to head to Dubai for their annual pre-season training camp, instead focusing on skill-based fitness at Alberton.

Davies thinks the playing group will be in good shape heading into the NAB Challenge.

“Our sights are firmly placed on Round 1 and I suppose righting some wrongs from last year.”

Gates open at Alberton Oval at 4:00pm with kick off at 5:00pm.

Admission is a gold coin.
