TOM CLUREY and Billy Frampton are expected to return from foot injuries a month into the AFL season as Port Adelaide looks to ramp up their rehabilitation next week.

Clurey is on track in his recovery from the foot injury he sustained early in the NAB Challenge, and will spend next week on the Power’s Alter-G machine before running in a fortnight.

Frampton’s rehabilitation period was pushed back by a fortnight earlier this week, but the Power’s head of high performance Darren Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au that decision was aimed to give him greater conditioning time.

Both Frampton and Clurey visited renowned foot specialist in Sydney, Kym Slater, to finalise their rehabilitation plan.

“We wanted to run our rehab schedule past Kym, which is something we sometimes do where feet are concerned,” Burgess said.

“We are pretty optimistic with Billy, but his problem is that because he’s been a little stop-start over the last two months, he’s lost a bit of conditioning.

“So he and Tommy will start running again over the coming week and then we’d expect them both to be about another four to five weeks.

“That would have them back around Round 4 or 5.”

Nathan Krakouer is also expected to finish his rehabilitation between four to six weeks, even though he won’t be eligible to play in the AFL until Round 6.

“It’s a standard rehab for Nathan, no contact for between four and six weeks depending on how he responds.”
