BRAD Ebert will be assessed by Port Adelaide’s high performance team during the week after suffering a bruised lung in Port Adelaide’s loss to Hawthorn on Thursday night.

Ebert hit the turf hard after coming down from a soaring mark early in the first quarter– he came straight off on the blood rule and didn’t return to the field.

Port Adelaide high performance manager Darren Burgess told Portadelaidefc.com.au Ebert was taken to hospital as a precaution.

“It was obviously a pretty nasty incident for ‘Ebo’, he was coughing up blood, so we decided to take him to hospital straight away to review the damage,” Burgess said.

“It turns out it’s a bruised lung so we’ll need to see how he’s going at training before we’re able to make a call on him for next week.

“We’re hopeful he’ll be able to play against North Melbourne.”

Hamish Hartlett also came off the field in the second quarter after a knock while being put to ground by Jack Gunston.

He was assessed on the sidelines and was able to resume play after being cleared of concussion.

Charlie Dixon was assessed on the sidelines during the final quarter following a knock to his back late in the game, but Burgess expects him to be fine to play against North Melbourne next Saturday.

Skipper Travis Boak copped a high knee to the chest in a contest with Luke Hodge in the second term, leaving him winded.

He was taken to the change rooms for assessment but returned to finish the game.

Port Adelaide is a chance to welcome back Matt White and Matthew Lobbe from injury next weekend.
