JASPER PITTARD is likely to miss the Power’s opening premiership season game against Sydney after scans showed a strain to his left hamstring.

Pittard suffered the injury in Sunday’s JLT Community Series loss to Richmond.

Port Adelaide’s head of high performance Darren Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au the rebounding defender would be taken through the rehab process with care.

“Jasper has a history with hamstring problems from the early part of his career, so that’s something we’ll be mindful of as we put him through rehab.

“It’s a Grade 1 strain so I’d say he’s unlikely to play in Round 1.”

The news is better for Chad Wingard who will bounce back from a corked leg suffered midway through Sunday’s game and will be available for selection against Hawthorn this weekend.

And Angus Monfries, Jesse Palmer, Matt White and Todd Marshall will all play their first pre-season game after being cleared for either AFL or SANFL selection this week.
