MATTHEW BROADBENT'S name will be in the mix at the selection table for Round 1 after passing a fitness test.

He missed the JLT series with a hamstring injury suffered in the Power's internal trial in mid-February.

Port Adelaide’s head of high performance Darren Burgess confirmed the defender had cleared an assessment.

“We assessed him last week and he’s ticked every box, he’s looking like he'll be available for selection this week,” Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au.

Dougal Howard and Jasper Pittard are inching closer to their own fitness tests.

Howard, still in recovery from the ACL he tore against Fremantle midway through the 2016 season , is 3-5 weeks from a return.

Pittard is 2-3 weeks from returning from the hamstring injury sustained against Richmond in Week 3 of the JLT Series.

Port Adelaide injury list as of Monday 20 March

Matthew Broadbent – hamstring (available)
Jasper Pittard – hamstring (2-3 weeks)
Dougal Howard – knee (3-5 weeks)
