NEXT Saturday night's Showdown promises to bring the city of churches to boiling point following Port Adelaide's scintillating win over Fremantle on Sunday afternoon.

Both the Power and Crows are undefeated and will surely pack out the Adelaide Oval for a high-pressure derby marking 20 years of the clash.

Port's second win for the season over Ross Lyon's Fremantle came off a seven-goal blitz in the first term.

It took until the 25th minute of the first term for Freo to convert via Pearce, followed by a late goal to Griffin.

Chief destroyers for the home side were Robbie Gray (six goals) and Charlie Dixon (three) in attack, with midfield superiority provided by Ollie Wines - who continued his strong early start to the season - Brad Ebert, Travis Boak and newcomer Sam Powell-Pepper helped the Power on the way to its early lead.

But it was the team-wide consistency for the second half that was the true hero.

Indeed, Port's ability to win the ball back via pressure to force Fremantle's turnovers accounted for 10 of its first 11 goals.

The only blips in the Power's match day came from a temporary lull that allowed Freo three consecutive majors in the third term, and Hamish Hartlett's late withdrawal due to illness. but replacement Brett Eddy wasn't complain

But Hartlett's replacement Brett Eddy wasn't complaining, instead relishing the opportunity to curl through his first AFL goal.

Lapped up by a vocal home crowd just shy of 40,000, the win was Port Adelaide's second on-the-trot following a 28-point starter against Sydney last week.

But Ken Hinkley will surely use an early start on Monday to swiftly reset his team for the Showdown - and the same consistency of effort from Port's opening fortnight will no doubt be a minimum requirement on the taskmaster's expectation list for Saturday.

Port Adelaide takes on the Adelaide Crows in the Showdown next Saturday 8 April at 7.10pm ACST.
