PORT ADELAIDE has dominated proceedings at the Adelaide Oval to clinch its third win for 2017 by 90 points.

The Power controlled the opening 14 minutes of the game to put the Blues to the sword early, with goals to Dixon, Polec, debutant Aidyn Johnson and Robbie Gray.

Johnson was a late replacement for Hamish Hartlett (quad soreness) and acquitted himself with aplomb – booting two goals in his first match including one with his first career kick as an AFL player.

There were highlights aplenty, whether it was Justin Westhoff’s brilliant second-term soccer goal or Robbie Gray’s bumper third term (he finished with three goals), Port looked more likely to score all night.

But the Blues weren’t far off the home side in the opening hour, able to win the ball, but failing to punish Port on the scoreboard.

Port turned the game into a clinic, but an inaccurate one in front of goal. Although the Power’s centre dominance saw it manufacture a whopping 22 inside-50s to Carlton’s two in the third term, they could only convert 6.10 for the quarter.

While that inaccuracy might rub some of the shine from the Power’s performance, their work to put the ball into attack was an undeniable positive.

Ollie Wines and Brad Ebert were chief destroyers in the middle, while Paddy Ryder was superior against Andrew Phillips.

But it was Robbie Gray's beserk second half that lit the 43,000-strong crowd up, his dominant five-goal performance up forward pivotal in him securing the Major Peter Badcoe VC Medal.

Skipper Travis Boak was also impressive, but was sidelined in the third quarter with what appeared to be a hamstring injury – portadelaidefc.com.au will have more news post-game.

Port Adelaide’s next challenge is an away journey to the Gabba, where it will take on Brisbane on Saturday 29 April at 4.25pm.
