PORT Adelaide defender Hamish Hartlett believes he will recover from a corked quad in time to face West Coast at Domain Stadium on Sunday.

Hartlett copped the painful knock to his leg in the third quarter of the Power's 13-point loss to Richmond last Saturday night.

Speaking on Triple M on Tuesday afternoon, Hartlett said the nine-day break should work in his favour.

"It's feeling marginally better than what it did yesterday and the day before, so that's a good sign," Hartlett said.

"It's a bit swollen and bruised up at the moment as you can imagine, but it's on the mend, so should be right come Sunday.

"I copped one against West Coast at home last year, but it was more on

the outside of my leg, so I could hobble around and it was OK.

"This one was flush in the middle of the left quaddie, so I couldn't get going."

Hartlett's inclusion for the Power would be important as they aim for their first win over a top-eight side this season.

The fact the fifth-placed Power (8-6) have lost all five of their games against teams currently in the finals mix has placed serious doubt over their premiership credentials.

"Pretenders, I don't know about that," Hartlett said.

"The speculation and question marks around us not beating a top-eight side are very much warranted because we haven't done so.

"We feel like we've played good enough footy and had our opportunities to do so.

"All we can do is look forward to that next opportunity, that comes to us this weekend."
