PORT ADELAIDE has contracted another father/son player to its SANFL league squad, with Darcy Ginever now eligible to play senior football for the Magpies.

He, along with Eyre Peninsula product Levi Proude and former contract player Zac Hawkins have joined the Magpies contract player ranks.

They’re currently playing in the Magpies’ competition-leading reserves side.

It’s Ginever’s off-field application and form on it that earned him a place on the senior list, according to Port Adelaide’s SANFL and Next Gen Academies manager Shane Grimm.

“He’s done everything right this year,” Grimm told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“From embracing everything we’re doing in our program, his improvement has gone up significantly.

“He doesn’t miss sessions, his footy is improving and he’s now showing leadership on the field through the use of his voice.”

Ginever’s father Tim is a Port Adelaide premiership captain and former coach.

Final contracts

Zac Hawkins has been placed on Port Adelaide’s senior list once again, having previously been a member of the senior Magpies group.

He’s joined by 2016 Reserves Best and Fairest Levi Proude, an Eyre Peninsula product of the Magpies’ old development zone.

Grimm says the duo have been strong on-field.

“Zac has been recontracted, and he was hit by a limited pre-season, but since returning into the main group he has been outstanding on-field and has been doing all the right things on the track.

“Levi is the reigning best and fairest for our seconds and has been very strong again this year.

“He trains and works hard and it shows with his footy on field.”
