PORT ADELAIDE has emphatically dismantled Gold Coast by 115 points - its second-biggest win the AFL - in a stirring display at the Adelaide Oval.

In the process, Port claimed fourth spot on the ladder with three games to go in Round 23 - easily eclipsing the Swans' own massive percentage boost earlier in the day with an 81-point win over Carlton at the SCG.

If Richmond lose Sunday's game against the Saints, it means the Power will play Adelaide in a qualifying final at the Adelaide Oval in the first week of finals.

Should the Tigers lose, the Power will play a home elimination final at the Oval against the eighth-ranked team.

That could be any of Essendon, Melbourne, West Coast or St Kilda.

Port's win was over within minutes of the second quarter. Despite leading by a slender two-point margin at quarter time, the Power opened the taps to demolish the Suns.

There were higlights aplenty to keep the 34,000 at the Adelaide Oval happy. 

Sam Gray had a day out as the Power's most destructive forward - his six goals a personal best. Charlie Dixon also booted four majors while Chad Wingard and Jake Neade had two apiece.

But it was a classic game where an under-8s coach would say, 'All played well.'

The result came on the back of wins for Port Adelaide's SANFL League and Reserves sides earlier in the day.
