LOGAN AUSTIN will head to St Kilda in 2018, after the club completed a last-minute trade for the young defender.

Austin and Port Adelaide’s own future fourth round selection will go to St Kilda in return for the Saints’ future third round selection.

Power List Manager Jason Cripps said Austin was looking for greater opportunities to play AFL football and wished him well for the next stage of his career.

“Logan had a solid 2016 season playing 11 games, but wasn’t able to cement a position in our defence this year,” Cripps said.

"We wish him every success at St Kilda."

Austin said while he's enjoyed his time at Port Adelaide, he's very much looking forward to the opportunity that awaits.

“Port Adelaide has been great for me as a footballer and as a person but this opportunity makes sense for me personally and professionally,” he said.

Austin arrived at Alberton with pick 69 in the 2014 National Draft. The 22-year-old made his AFL debut in Round 11, 2016 and has played 13 AFL games.
