Aidyn Johnson will remain at Alberton until at least the end of the 2019 season after committing to a new contract.

General Manager of Football Chris Davies says the 19-year-old showed his potential after earning his AFL debut and playing five games in the 2017 season.

“Aidyn had 14 disposals and kicked two goals on debut against Carlton in Round five,” Davies said.

“His speed is a major asset and his pressure around the contest is at a high level.

“His challenge is to take it to a new level in 2018.”

Johnson says he’s eager to get back to work when pre-season training begins in late November.

“Physically I’m feeling really good now after having trouble with injuries during my first season,” Johnson said.

“Having had a taste of AFL footy this year I’m determined to earn a regular spot in the side.”

Johnson was chosen by Port Adelaide with pick 45 in the 2015 National Draft.
