The Port Adelaide Football Club welcomes the AFL’s revamped JLT Community Series format and its fixture for 2018.

The Power’s first game will be against West Coast at Perth’s Leederville Oval on Sunday, February 25.

Alberton Oval will host Port’s second and final game, against Adelaide on Saturday, March 10.

General Manager of Football Chris Davies says two pre-season games against AFL opposition is enough to prepare for the regular season.

“Like all clubs, match simulation is a significant part of our pre-season training,” Davies said.

“As we have in the past we’ll play an internal trial game as well, so the two JLT Community Series games will have our squad ready to go for the first round of the Home and Away season.

“An away trip so early in the year can be a genuine bonding experience for a group that always welcomes new players and staff from year to year so we’re looking forward to heading to Perth.”

Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas says the club is delighted to host the Adelaide Crows at Alberton on March 10.

“Alberton Oval has been the scene of some iconic games over a number of decades at SANFL level involving Port Adelaide’s great historic rivals,” Mr Thomas said.

“Now we look forward to another chapter in the ground’s history as we welcome our modern-day rivals, the Crows, to Alberton for the first time in an AFL fixture.

“Port Adelaide will use this game as an opportunity to reinforce its commitment to the local community and will look to connect with the local Port Adelaide-Enfield council, businesses and sporting clubs to make the day a celebration of the entire district.

“I have no doubt the Port Adelaide community will rally behind this game and provide the Crows and their supporters a warm welcome.”

Port Adelaide’s first game will begin at 3.35pm local time (6.05pm ACDT) while the pre-season Showdown will start at 4.05pm. Both games will be broadcast live and exclusive on Fox Footy.
