ARE you getting into AFL fantasy this season?

Well if you are, here is a quick overview of some of the club’s best performers and most popular picks ahead of Round 1.

Head to portadelaidefc.com.au each week for a comprehensive breakdown of the weekend's fantasy results.

Dom Barry (midfield - $170,000)

At 24, Barry is getting his second shot at the AFL.

After playing five games for Melbourne in two years, Barry quit the club in 2014 and moved back to the APY lands for cultural reasons.

At just $170,000 the fleet-footed smooth-moving midfielder is a bargain, and after impressing in the JLT Community Series it seems many Fantasy-leaguers are banking on him getting games and performing well.

In fact, Barry has been picked in 33,619 teams to date, making him Port Adelaide’s most selected player, and the eleventh most selected in the competition.

(For the record, Hawthorn’s Tom Mitchell is most popular, having been picked in 50,085 teams.)

Todd Marshall (forward - $254,000)

Speaking of bargains, Todd Marshall is just that.

After making his AFL debut in Round 22, the 19-year-old played three games in 2017, including the Elimination Final against West Coast.

He averaged 47.5 points per round last season, but expect the youngster to have more impact this season.

Ken Hinkley likes the 198-centimetre forward and wants to give him as much game time as possible.

Surprisingly Marshall has only been picked in 414 teams, but at $254,000 there could be worse options in your forward line.

Robbie Gray (forward - $572,000)

For a guy who averaged 81.2 points per game last season but knows how to rack up possessions and goals, Robbie Gray isn’t all that expensive at $572,000.

The 29-year-old averaged 19 disposals per game but also booted 47 goals and provided 30 goal assists while playing a majority of his time in the forward half in 2017.

Listed as a forward, Gray is likely to spend time in the middle as well, which makes him an enticing prospect if he can continue to be as prolific and creative with the ball.

4,650 AFL Fantasy coaches have selected Gray, hoping just that.

Jack Watts (forward - $531,000)

Sticking with the forwards theme, it’d be hard to go past Jack Watts after his six-goal performance against Adelaide in the JLT Community Series.

Having arrived in the trade period from Melbourne, Watts has already shown his potential value at Alberton.

Picked in 2,153 teams so far, Watts averaged 75.4 points per round in 2017 in 16 games.

He booted 22 goals last season to go with an average 16 possessions, but is likely to play a different role with the Power which could see the 26 year-old be more damaging on the scoreboard, while also picking up more disposals.

Tom Rockliff (midfield - $725,000)

Another new face at Alberton, Rockliff averaged 103 points per game in 2017 in his 20 matches with Brisbane.

The former Lions skipper cracked 2,060 total fantasy points last season and his price tag of $725,000 probably reflects that.

While he has yet to pull on the Power colours in pre-season, Fantasy coaches obviously expect he will have an immediate impact given he has been picked in 13,360 teams, making him the Power’s second-most popular selection behind Dom Barry.

Brad Ebert (midfield - $724,000)

Another with a lofty price, Ebert was Port Adelaide’s highest overall scorer in 2017 with 2,263 points.

The 27-year-old works hard and is super courageous but doesn’t always receive the accolades or attention he deserves.

Averaging 102.9 points and 25 touches per game last season, Ebert showed his worth to the side.

He’s only been picked in 265 fantasy teams in 2018 so far, with coaches potentially realising he will have more support in the midfield after the club’s off-season recruitment.

Notable mentions

Justin Westhoff (midfield / forward - $585,000)

Averaged 83 points per game in 2017 but will be freed up for more time in the middle with Watts’ arrival. Picked in 1,380 teams in 2018 to date.

Sam Gray (forward - $577,000)

Picked in just 431 teams, Gray scored more prolifically than his namesake Robbie Gray in 2017 but is more expensive than him this year.
