PORT ADELAIDE regrets to inform members and supporters that its popular Game Day Village (GDV) at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre won’t be happening on Saturday for the AFL season-opening clash against Fremantle.

The Club has been working hard to bring the GDV back after feedback from a member survey last year but a tennis tournament at the Centre this weekend means it won’t be open until the Power’s second home game in round 3 against Brisbane.

Port Adelaide Football Club Executive General Manager Matthew Richardson confirmed the GDV would then be in place for all of the club’s remaining home matches in 2018.

“Returning Game Day Village back to this location was one of the major pieces of feedback from our member survey last year so whist there are other locations we considered, this is the best location for our fans,” he said.

“In order to do that, the Club has to work with the Stadium and also Tennis SA, and pleasingly the intent of all three parties is to provide the best fan experience possible on a Port Adelaide match day.

“The catering and the experience will be different to inside the Stadium, it will retain the unique GDV atmosphere with the club remaining responsible for theming, entertainment and marketing.

“From our perspective, GDV has always been about enhancing the game day experience for fans on game day, and that’s both Port Adelaide and the opposition, which has previously been one of the great features of it.”
