“It was good to get my first win in front of the home fans and the monkey’s off the back I suppose and I’m ready to go for next week.

“I’m pretty lucky I play with a good bunch of players and I just play my role and if I get in those situations (like my second goal) I’ll have a crack.”

Riley Bonner

“The boys played really well, it was a four-quarter effort and as the scoreboard shows we put in a really big team effort and it was a really good game.

“It was nice to get a bit of ball today. All the defenders worked really hard together and all the boys got a bit of a lick so it’s real nice.

“We’ve got 42 fit blokes on the list at the moment so there’s really good pressure for positions, especially down there in defence so it’s real good and I’m enjoying it.”

Todd Marshall

“Besides the end of that second quarter we played the way we wanted to play and yeah it was a good start to the year for us.

“Obviously with Paddy going down I got a little bit more game time, I was on the field a bit more, and Dicko and Westy played a bit more in the ruck so it gave me and Wattsy a chance to play a bit more of that deeper forward.

“It’s nice to get a win and if I can just keep playing my role and keep putting on forward pressure as a tall, hopefully I can keep my spot.

“With the four new boys there was a lot of Gatorade being thrown around so it was good to see them really happy after the game and hopefully we can have a good year.”

Dom Barry

“It was pretty exciting for me early on and the team really embraced me early on and I felt comfortable being out there again, it was exciting and I absolutely loved it.

“We just played to our structure and played to what we know and I think everyone contributed really well today and I think (a big win) is just what happens.

“My Dad flew down from Alice Springs and I had my sister over here and my nephew and so I’ve got a bit of family over here and it was good to have them here.”
