HAWTHORN'S Tom Mitchell justified his top price-tag in AFL Fantasy in Round 1, recording a league-high 156 points on the back of his AFL record 54 possessions and eight marks.

Mitchell’s value increased by $16,000, but he is owned by 64.09% of AFL Fantasy coaches, making him the competition’s most popular player.

Port Adelaide had some stars as well, and some players worth considering ahead of Round 2.

Justin Westhoff (mid/fwd - $613,000)

The ninth highest scorer across the league, the versatile utility increased his value by $28,000 with his total of 132 points.

Westhoff had 15 kicks, 10 handballs and nine marks to go with five hit-outs after he spent some time in the ruck when Paddy Ryder went down injured.

Expect him to spend more time in the ruck against Sydney on Sunday, meaning he is likely to end up in more than the 2358 AFL Fantasy teams in which he already features.

Jack Watts (fwd - $552,000)

In his first game at his new club, the former Melbourne Demon showed how important he could be to the Power’s forward set-up.

Booting three goals and having 20 disposals and seven marks, Watts racked up 112 AFL Fantasy points, seeing his value rise by $21,000.

His performance followed a career-high six-goal haul in his most recent JLT Community Series game, showing the 27-year-old is in hot form.

It is a small sample size but given he averaged 75.4 in 16 games last season, his move seems to already be paying dividends for him, and it could for AFL Fantasy coaches too.

Riley Bonner (def - $447,000)

A break-out 31-possession performance by the fifth-gamer showcased his potential to cement a spot as a running half-back.

Bonner added $24,000 to his overall value with his 102 points – that’s $4,382 per point, making him Port Adelaide’s best scoring player when it comes to a price to points ratio.

Still only selected by 3817 teams, another solid performance by the 21-year-old will see him become much more popular.

Dom Barry (mid - $198,000)

Making his second tilt at the AFL, Barry was electric in stages against the Dockers.

The speedy mid added $28,000 to his value with a 72 point performance.

Barry had 22 disposals and five marks and will only get better with more game time.

The 24-year-old is still Port Adelaide’s most popular player with AFL Fantasy Coaches, being picked by more than 58,000 so far, meaning he’s in 48% of all teams.

Tom Rockliff (mid - $694,000)

An uncharacteristically quiet game for the 155-game 28-year-old but he was playing his first minutes in 2018 and his first game in Power colours.

Rockliff managed just 12 disposals and a goal in 69% game time, meaning his AFL Fantasy value dropped by $31,000.

A proven performer who averaged 103 points in 2017, it’s unlikely Rockliff will stay that quiet for long so it might be a good time to pick him up at a bargain price.

Port Adelaide top 5 for Round 1

  1. Justin Westhoff – 132
  2. Jack Watts – 112
  3. Brad Ebert – 104
  4. Riley Bonner – 102
  5. Ollie Wines – 101
