DURING Saturday’s thrilling five-point Showdown victory, Paddy Ryder and Robbie Gray combined for a goal reminiscent of the match-winner against St Kilda in Round 19 last year.

Trailing by seven points with just over two minutes left in the third term, Ryder flicked the ball over his head in the ruck contest to a swift-moving Gray.

The 30-year-old snapped truly for his fourth of the third quarter to send the packed Adelaide Oval into a frenzy, as Port Adelaide turned a 21-point half time deficit into a 12-point lead heading into the final term.

Recognising it was Robbie Gray with ball-in-hand, the All-Australian ruckman knew that their set play would only finish one way - a goal to the Power.

One Port Adelaide member drew comparisons of Ryder’s crisp early celebration with Golden State Warriors basketballer Andrew Bogut in 2016.

Bogut tapped the ball to the ever-reliable Steph Curry, and before the ball had even left Curry’s hand, the big man had his finger in the air running down the court.
