With Port Adelaide's bye in Round 10 after the Shanghai clash, we thought we would take a look back at the five best goals from season 2018 to date.

  1. Travis Boak v Sydney, Round 2

Captain Travis Boak scored a clever bouncing goal in the third quarter against Sydney just as Port Adelaide was starting to get on top.

A long ball inside 50 by ruckman Charlie Dixon was brought to ground by Chad Wingard and Boak did the rest, with a neat pick-up in slippery conditions and a finish under the hands of his opponent.

It was one of two goals from Boak against the Swans.

  1. Riley Bonner v West Coast, Round 7

Port lost to West Coast but Riley Bonner provided a highlight with his long bomb from 60 metres in the third quarter.

The 21 -year-old received the ball just goal-side of the centre square after Robbie Gray was called to play on and after three steps he launched it home from range.

It was the third goal of the season for the young defender but definitely his best.

  1. Steven Motlop v Fremantle, Round 1

Steven Motlop was making his debut for the Power in Round 1 against Fremantle and his goal in the third quarter immediately endeared him to the Port Adelaide faithful.

The fleet-footed midfielder started the play by turning over the ball on the wing with a strong tackle on his opponent.

He was quick to regain his feet and was the beneficiary of a quick handpass from Todd Marshall, before stepping on the gas, taking a bounce and slotting the ball home on the bounce, off the outside of his boot from the left forward pocket.

The celebration wasn’t bad either.

  1. Sam Powell-Pepper v Gold Coast, Round 9

Sam Powell-Pepper was brilliant against the Suns with 26 touches and ten tackles but his superb solo goal in the dying stages of the game capped the performance.

The 20-year-old picked up a loose ball on the boundary, crashed through the pack towards the goal line, and after falling over in the tackle, slotted the goal over his head as he was lying on the ground.

It was a remarkable piece of individual brilliance that was rewarded with a nomination for the Round 9 Goal of the Year.

  1. Steven Motlop v Adelaide, Round 8

It is every player’s dream to kick a winning goal in a Showdown, but Steven Motlop’s solo effort with 21 seconds on the clock in Round 8 was extra special, especially given the context.

In his first Showdown since joining the club, Motlop showed incredible composure after receiving a handpass from Sam Gray just outside 50.

He danced inside one Crows opponent before straightening and finding space between four defenders to kick a famous goal.

The goal was judged to be the Round 8 Goal of the Year, putting him in the running to win the $10,000 prize at season’s end.
