PORT ADELAIDE made it three consecutive wins when it defeated Melbourne by 10 points on Friday night at Adelaide Oval.

The Power came from 20 points down in the third quarter to beat the in-form Demons.

This is what the media had to say...

The team

“Port Adelaide has emerged a genuine contender for a top-four spot after beating Melbourne 11.9 (75) to 9.11 (65) in a ferociously fought-out cliffhanger at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.” - Lee Gaskin (afl.com.au)

“Port Adelaide going into games against the top six - they are 5-1. It’s a good record.” - Damien Barrett (Access All Areas)

“They just won all of the big moments, the big tough moments of the game. They’ve been doing that against good sides.” - Jimmy Bartel (Access All Areas)

“They are getting a better contribution from all players. They aren’t just relying on Wines, Wingard and Gray.” - Brian Taylor (Talking Footy)

“It was such a gutsy win for Port Adelaide that will give its top four chances a huge boost.” - Reece Homfray (The Advertiser)

“Powell-Pepper, Rockliff, Wingard and Wines - they are a tough midfield to beat.” - Matthew Lloyd (Footy Classified)

Ollie Wines

“Power vice-captain Ollie Wines celebrated his four-year contract extension with 29 disposals, 18 contested possessions and eight clearances.” - Lee Gaskin (afl.com.au)

“The Power put their foot down in the final term led by midfielder Ollie Wines, who finished the match with 29 disposals, eight clearances and five tackles.” - Matt Balmer (Fox Sports)

“Just as awesome was Ollie Wines, who in the dying moments took a contested mark from a Power kick-in, pushed forward and took one at half-forward as the final siren went.” - Reece Homfray (The Advertiser)

Tom Jonas

“Key defender Tom Jonas was superb cutting off numerous Demons' attacking raids.” - Lee Gaskin (afl.com.au)

“Tom Jonas might’ve been the Power’s best and could feature in the Brownlow votes, finishing with 20 disposals and 11 marks as a rock in the defensive half of the ground.” - Matt Balmer (Fox Sports)

“Tom Jonas was the rock in a defence under siege but Westhoff was incredible and his 50m goal in time-on of the final term helped ice the result.” - Reece Homfray (The Advertiser)

Sam Powell-Pepper

“He is a contested animal - since he has come back he has done some sensational things without the ball in hand, and they are a much better side because oh him.” - Campbell Brown (Talking Footy)

“He broke the Port Adelaide all-time record this weekend with 17 tackles in one game. He is an absolute inside bull.” - Chris Judd (Footy Classified)

Justin Westhoff

“Justin Westhoff goaled from a 50-metre penalty with five minutes on the clock, and while Melbourne kept coming they couldn't bridge the gap.” - Lee Gaskin (afl.com.au)

“Justin Westhoff has displayed evergreen form throughout this season but set shots haven’t been his forte in 2018. Not known for his long kicking, the 31-year-old made the distance from outside 50 to give his side a match-winning 11-point lead in the fourth quarter.” - Marcus Wilson (afl.com.au)
