PORT ADELAIDE defender Dougal Howard could return from injury in Saturday afternoon’s meeting with West Coast.

Howard has missed games against the Western Bulldogs and Adelaide after breaking his hand against Greater Western Sydney in Round 18.

Medical staff have seen significant improvement in the injury and he will undergo a test later in the week to confirm whether he will be available for selection.

Defender Trent McKenzie will be assessed during the week after suffering a concussion playing in the SANFL on Saturday.

Rookie Emmanuel Irra’s season is over after he underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose body in his knee.

Irra hyperextended his right knee playing for the Magpies against South Adelaide in Round 16 and scans last week confirmed the need for surgery.
