PORT ADELAIDE has told defenders Jimmy Toumpas and Emmanuel Irra that their contracts will not be renewed for 2019.

Toumpas arrived at Alberton as part of a complicated four-way trade at the end of the 2015 season.

The South Australian had played 27 games over three seasons with Melbourne after being drafted by the Demons with Pick 4 in the 2012 draft.

The 24-year-old added another 10 AFL games during three seasons with Port Adelaide as well as providing experience across the backline with the Magpies in the SANFL.

Irra became the first Ugandan player at the club after being drafted as a Category B pre-selection from South Adelaide in 2016.

The 24-year-old strong-bodied defender provided run and carry from the backline over the past two seasons, but a knee injury in the Round 16 game against South Adelaide ended his season prematurely.

Port Adelaide’s General Manager – Football, Chris Davies thanked both players for their contributions to the club.

“Jimmy and Emmanuel have given great service to our club both on the field and within our community programs as leaders in the multicultural space.

“But, we have reached a difficult time of the year when the club needs to make decisions for its future regarding our playing list.

“We thank both players for their professionalism and we wish them well for their futures.

“Both Jimmy and Emmanuel are always welcome at the Port Adelaide Football Club.”
