TWO members of Port Adelaide’s historic 2004 premiership side have coached their respective state league sides to premiership glory on Sunday afternoon.

Josh Carr (North Adelaide) and Jarrad Schofield (Subiaco) both stood with hands aloft yesterday after winning the SANFL and WAFL respectively.

North defeated a red-hot and heavily fancied Norwood side by 19 points in front of more than 40,000 fans at Adelaide Oval.

Carr’s Roosters put a controversial week in the lead-up to the grand final behind them to claim their first flag in 27 years.

The 38-year-old was ably assisted by former Port player Jacob Surjan who joined North as head of football development ahead of the 2018 season.

In the west, Schofield coached Subiaco to a third WAFL premiership in six years to become the club’s most successful coach in its history.

The Lions were too strong for West Perth, leading at every change to run away resounding 81-point victors in Sunday’s grand final in front of 25,064 people at Optus Stadium.

Schofield’s Lions became the first side in more than 70 years to go through an entire season undefeated.
