LIFE’S looking Rozee for Port Adelaide’s first 2018 AFL Draft pick, with the new recruit “over the moon” to receive a black, white and teal jumper.

Connor Rozee was taken by the club at Pick 5 overall as one of several South Australian grown talents tipped for selection in this year’s top 10.

The 18-year old said it was a dream come true to be given the opportunity to play at the top level with a club like Port Adelaide, while also remaining in his home state.

“Obviously I was open to moving away but to get to stay home near my family and my friends is absolutely awesome,” he said following the draft.

“And to play for such a great football club…I’m absolutely over the moon.”

Port Adelaide National Recruiting Manager echoed the sentiment, saying the club is also incredibly pleased to have secured a player of Rozee’s class at Pick 5.

“Connor has been on our radar for a while, having won the medal at the national Under-16 championships a couple of years ago,” he said.

“He is a very good mark for his size, uses the ball well and is very versatile demonstrating an ability to play both forward or back, or in the midfield.”

Rozee’s versatility is his strength, with the ability to play all across the field and play several different roles.

He showed class and poise beyond his years while representing North Adelaide at senior level this season, finishing the year strongly as a defender in the Roosters’ team.

“My main strength is my utility I can play a few different positions, so I played at half back and half forward at North Adelaide this year,” Rozee said.

“I think going forward my speed is one of my best assets so going into the midfield I think I can be a damaging midfielder going forward.”

And being presented the Power guernsey on-stage by club legend Gavin Wanganeen is a moment he won’t soon forget.

“It’s an absolute honour – he’s an absolute legend of the football club so to have someone of that stature of the football club present my jumper to me…I’m absolutely over the moon.”
