PORT ADELAIDE has five players ranked in the AFL’s top 100 and two in the top 50, after the release of the Official AFL Player Ratings.

Collingwood leads the competition with ten players in the top 100 and six in the top 50, while the Power comes in 12th with its five players in the top 100.

West Coast, Greater Western Sydney and the Western Bulldogs also have five players in the top 100 under the rankings.

Gold Coast is the only team that doesn’t have a player inside the top 50 and has just one in the top 100.

The rankings are assessed using a sophisticated algorithm, assessing every single action of every player, determining the impact of that action, and providing points – either positive or negative – toward that player's rating compared to his peers.

Along with the obvious acts such as goals, marks and disposals, the assessment includes intercepts, spoils, kicking to a contest, smothers, chasing, corralling and many other 'one-percenters' - along with where and when they occurred - to paint a complete picture of every player's impact on a game.

And the Official AFL Player Ratings are based on a player's past 40 games, which delivers a long-term view of a player's standing within the AFL.

Port Adelaide’s top-ranked player is ruckman Paddy Ryder, who came in at 14 despite missing much of the 2018 season through injury.

His 513.0 points has him well behind league leader Dustin Martin from Richmond, who has 643.1 points but ahead of 2018 Brownlow Medallist Tom Mitchell, who finished 15th with 512.8 points.

Ryder is also the fourth-best ruckman under the points system with Brody Grundy (588.9) in fourth place overall, Max Gawn seventh (558.5) and Ben McEvoy (516.7)  just ahead of Ryder in 13th place.

Robbie Gray is Port Adelaide’s next highest ranked at 29th on 486.8 points with Ollie Wines (448) in 55th position, Justin Westhoff (440.4) 62nd and Travis Boak (415.3) 80th.

Brad Ebert (395.6) was unlucky to just miss the top 100, finishing 101st.
