Budget Party Hire owner Greg Evangelou has finished among the best performers in the world for AFL Fantasy and he'll again be offering his thoughts for the new-look AFL Fantasy competition.

Hi AFL Fantasy players,

Here are my top five tips for success in this year's competition…

1. Think like a businessman and not a passionate supporter when selecting your team. I'd end up with at least 15 Port Adelaide players and no Crows players if I thought like that. Similar to business, you invest in players you believe will score well and make you the most amount of money, because money will buy you a team of superstars just in time for finals.

2. Keep a close eye on youngsters during pre season. Your choice of rookies and cheap bench players cna make or break your season.

3. In 2013, coaches took a lot of gambles with trades because we were given two per week, unlike 2012 when we had 24 and had to use them wisely. The ones who cherished their trades in 2013, and didn’t gamble, succeeded. I suggest you do the same in 2014. Every trade is crucial.

4.
Don’t play your opponent on a week-to-week basis by making certain trades that might win you the game. Play smart, don’t allow emotions to get the better of you. Make trades that will give you more points overall for the season and the wins will come.

5. Don’t be scared to lock in Ablett as your captain for the season. I think he's set for a massive season! Don’t gamble on other star midfielders playing at home against lower-ranked teams.

My Pre-Season Team

This team will change dramatically by Round 1. However, this is how it looking now.

Some players I have selected who I’ll keep a close eye on during pre-season are Pearce Hanley, Beau Waters, Clinton Young, Anthony Morabito, and Paul Chapman. They’re all 50/50.

There’s a couple lock-ins from now, if they remain fit – Mitchell, Suckling, Swan, Ablett, Sandilands, Dangerfield and Franklin. I  suggest all of you to do the same.
