PORT ADELAIDE will assess the fitness of star forward Chad Wingard after the group’s main training session tomorrow, to determine whether he will be available to take on Brisbane in Round 3.

The 2013 John Cahill Medallist reported soreness in his right hamstring in Port’s 23-point victory in Sydney but managed to play out the game.

If the 24-year-old misses the clash with the Lions, several players are vying to replace him after impressing in the Magpies’ 95-point win over Adelaide on Saturday.

Ex-Kangaroo Lindsay Thomas kicked six goals from 18 disposals, Jake Neade had 18 disposals, six tackles and a goal, Aidyn Johnson kicked two goals from his 15 touches while Karl Amon provided plenty of run with his 15 possessions.

Jack Trengove will be in the selection mix again after being last week’s traveling emergency, while Trent McKenzie (27 disposals) and Joe Atley (25 disposals and a goal) also impressed in the SANFL.

The team to face the Lions at Adelaide Oval on Saturday will be announced on Thursday.
