PORT ADELAIDE will welcome back 2004 premiership player Dean Brogan as part of a new-look coaching group.

Brogan will become ruck coach, a role he occupied at Greater Western Sydney up until the end of 2017.

In a 13-year playing career, Brogan managed 193 games - 174 of those at Port Adelaide.

He shifted to New South Wales to become a playing assistant coach at GWS in 2012, remaining there until last year.

A key pillar in the centre square in the Power’s historic 2004 premiership campaign, Brogan will return to Alberton with the aim of achieving similar success as a coach.

“Dean has impressive credentials when it comes to working with both experienced ruckmen and those still developing their craft,” said General Manager - Football, Chris Davies.

“Given the spread of ruckmen on our list, he was the ideal candidate to take on the role.

“We are excited to welcome him back home to Alberton.”

Brogan will work with the club in a part-time, consultant role.

His arrival coincides with the return of his premiership teammates Brett Montgomery and Jarrad Schofield, who will also join the coaching group.

Montgomery will look after the Power’s defence, meaning Nathan Bassett will become forward coach - a role he previously held at Essendon.

Schofield will take on the midfield with Michael Voss to become senior assistant under coach Ken Hinkley.
