TOM JONAS has had a cracking start to the 2018 AFL Premiership season, playing an integral role in Port Adelaide’s defensive set up.

Jonas has had the ability to play a variety of roles in Port’s backline throughout the years, and it’s his versatility that makes him so vital at Alberton.

The 27-year-old leads the AFL for marks in 2018, where he is averaging 8.9 a game - compared to his career average of 4.3.

He also sits fourth in the AFL for one-percenters with 78 for the season through the first nine rounds - a statistic that teammate Dougal Howard leads with 101.

Jonas is averaging 18 disposals a game this season, compared to the 13.5 he has averaged across his career, with the 189-centimetre defender kicking the ball significantly more in 2018.

He had career-highs for kicks (18) and marks (15) in the Power’s ANZAC Round clash with Geelong at Adelaide Oval in Round 5.

As a result of his increased accumulation of disposals and marks, Jonas has increased his AFL Fantasy output to 82 points per game, up from an average of 54 in the years prior.

With a relatively young defence and the loss of Hamish Hartlett for the season, Jonas will look to continue his terrific form and provide leadership in the back half of 2018.
