THEY’RE the players who reached significant milestones in 2018, from 50-gamers Darcy Byrne-Jones and Tom Clurey to 150-gamers Hamish Hartlett and Steven Motlop.

With their feats celebrated at the 2018 Best and Fairest event and John Cahill Medal presentation, portadelaidefc.com.au thought it would take a look at how each player fared in their milestone game.

AFL

50 games

Darcy Byrne-Jones (Round 7 v West Coast)

In a game that was probably his team’s worst result and performance for the 2018 season, Bryne-Jones actually acquitted himself pretty well. He had 26 disposals and seven marks and was one of the Power’s best on a disappointing day.

Tom Clurey (Round 11 v Hawthorn)

Another milestone, and another loss, this time to the Hawks and this time only by three points. Clurey performed admirably in the backline, taking five marks and having 13 disposals as the Power was undone by ill-discipline and some skill errors.

100 games

Jared Polec (Round 17 v Fremantle)

One of Port Adelaide’s best players all season, Polec was no different on a shocking day at Perth’s Optus Stadium. The 26-year-old had 26 touched and seven marks as one of the few Power players who provided run and carry on the day.

150 games

Hamish Hartlett (Round 2 v Sydney)

A wonderful servant of the club, Hartlett was composed in defence when Sydney got on top early at the SCG and important with his rebound as the Power turned the game on its head. He finished with 13 touches, two tackles and a huge 10 marks, and importantly he finished on the winning side.

Steven Motlop (Round 16 v St Kilda)

While most of his games have been for Geelong, Motlop reached his 150 milestone in Round 16 in Power colours. He was brilliant, playing a game-breaking role through the midfield. At his electrifying best with 28 disposals, seven marks, three clearances, six tackles and two goal assists. He also had a game-high seven rebound 50s and a team-high seven inside 50s.

SANFL

50 games

Jarrod Lienert (Round 2 v Glenelg)

He started the season with a bang and Round 2 was no different for Lienert. In a last-minute win, the big defender had midfield numbers, finishing with 26 disposals and eleven marks. He even found himself in advanced positions, scoring two behinds and five inside 50s to go with seven rebound 50s.

Will Snelling (Round 8 v North Adelaide)

Renowned as a ball-winning bull, Snelling had a rare off day as the Magpies fell to the Roosters in disappointing fashion. While he wasn’t alone in being below par, Snelling finished with eleven touches, two marks and four tackles on a day he would probably rather forget.

Jimmy Toumpas (Round 14 v Adelaide)

Usually a prolific ball-winner off half back, Toumpas was quiet by his standards on a blustery day at Kadina. He had 19 disposals and five marks while laying two tackles and recording five rebound 50s and two inside 50s. Unfortunately the Crows spoiled the celebration after a dominant last quarter.

Billy Frampton (Round 15 v Glenelg)

Frampton had a particularly busy day in his 50th SANFL game. The big man had 19 hit-outs to go with 19 disposals, seven marks and two tackles. Resting up forward he also provided the Magpies a tall target and hit the scoreboard, finishing with two goals and two behinds, but it wasn’t enough to see his side over the line.

Jake Neade (Round 17 v West Adelaide)

Already a 50-gamer in the AFL, Neade reached his SANFL milestone in Round 17 on a difficult day at Richmond Oval. Playing off half-forward, he finished with 16 disposals, two marks and three tackles, while he also went inside 50 four times.
