ROBBIE GRAY is battling niggles, but they're not impacting his form, according to Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley.

The Power forward struggled last week, but Ken Hinkley says injury concerns

PORT Adelaide forward Robbie Gray has failed to complete his side’s training session at Jiangwan Stadium in Shanghai.

The Power trained for around 90 minutes in 30 degree heat on Thursday afternoon, with most of the session based around match simulation.

While Gray took part in the earlier parts of training, he finished the hit-out on the bench with his right calf strapped and iced.

Power ruckman Paddy Ryder told AFL.com.au after the training session that he was still confident Gray would be fit to face Gold Coast in Sunday's historic match.

"Yeah, he'll be good. He always gets up," Ryder said.

"He's vital to us. He got out there and had a few kicks and a few runs but I think the physios are just looking after him a bit, which I'm more than happy with."

Ryder nearly changed guernsey this weekend

There has been ongoing speculation Gray is carrying an injury since he was held goalless against West Coast last Saturday.

Earlier on Thursday, coach Ken Hinkley brushed aside suggestions that Gray's poor showing in the loss to the Eagles was due to injury.

"Rob's no different to any other player, he has niggles that he deals with, and he'll be fine to play," Hinkley said.

"Robbie got beaten by his opponent on the weekend [against the Eagles].

"He gets embarrassed by some of the hysteria that goes around about his groins - or not his groins.

"Rob's just a normal player who can have bad games of football, hopefully not again on Sunday."

Port Adelaide plays Gold Coast at Jiangwan Stadium on Sunday 14 May at 1.15pm CZT/2.45pm ACST.
